Hi my 26month old daughter is toilet training. First 2 days we had 1 accident but since than the last 3 days no wee accident but she is only weeing twice a day and dry over night. Is this ok? I'm worried she is going to cause herself a UTI.
Answer: Hi, The fact that she is only passing urine x 2 a day is a bit of a concern and does warrant a check with a doctor. Toddlers need to wee around 6 times or more a day as well as pass wee overnight. It's common for toilet training toddlers to still need to wear a nappy overnight. This may be a case of her not getting enough water and fluids to drink through the day/evening and by increasing her fluid intake then there will be an increase in her urine output. But I strongly recommend you have her medically checked. And perhaps, keep a fluid and food intake diary for the day or two preceding her appointment so that the doctor can make a more thorough and informed assessment that this is an intake issue or perhaps due to something else.
