Is this swelling normal, should I be worried about prolapsed womb?

Hi Alex, 9 days ago I gave birth to a healthy boy 9lb8.5oz. I am only petite in size myself and have ad two girls previously (who were alot smaller). The labour was very difficult and extremely painful and I had stitches both ways after. In the last 2days I noticed swelling (like a little balloon) pertruding from my vagina at the end of the day. I went ino thehospital where the Obstetrician checked me (the swelling had gone back in by that time) and he said everything was too swollen to see where it was coming from and to just get checked at my 6 week checkup. Is this normal and should I be worried about prolapsed womb?
Thankyou, worried Mum of 3!

Answer: Hi, It really is far too early to work out if it is anything long term. If you are getting strong pain in that area when the swelling increases it could be something more serious but otherwise it is best to wait as the area is very good at healing given time. Best wishes, Alex
