I thought the first intial waters broke in one big gush...

Hi Alex,
I am 40 weeks and had a Obstetrician appointment yesterday, my cervix had started to open and he stretched it more and said I would probably ststt labour in the next 48 hours, which I think I have as I started to spot and then later on I bled and then there was blood and it was also mucsous and I think my waters have broken as I have been geting a clear liquid, but it has been coming in little gushes all night, I thought the first intial waters broke in one big gush. It has sort of stopped a litle for now and I just felt baby move so is everything ok and should I be feeling labour pains now as I don`t have any.
Thanks Cat

Answer: Hi Cat, You will need to contact your local hospital to notify them of your symptoms and some hospitals require you to have a check up if you think that the waters have broken. The labour may take quite a while to start but it is a definite sign that your body is getting ready to go into labour. Try to drink plenty of fluids and eat a small amount and get some rest. Best wishes, Alex
