Our guests varied from celebrities, professionals offering their advice and mums and dads just like you all open up and talk candidly about their parenting experiences. Here’s your chance to find out a little more about Rachel and the guests who join her on the couch.
Rachel is one of Australia’s most popular female personalities. She has managed to squeeze more into her career than most would dream of. From reporting on Channel Nine’s top rating A Current Affair, to travelling the world for the popular nature program Wildlife, Rachel is a seasoned television presenter.
She was first introduced to Australian audiences through her role in Neighbours where she won a silver Logie earning an enviable profile she used to open the door into journalism.
At 21, she was producing and reporting segments for the Midday Show and on her first assignment interviewed Hollywood legend Sean Connery on location for “Medicine Man”.
Still young, at just 23, Rachel left Australia for London. Within a month of arriving, she landed herself a plum position with the London News Network, reporting for London Tonight. While still working in London, Rachel received an offer too good to refuse. A new program called Wildlife was about to go into production, involving two of her greatest passions – travel and animals. “It was one of the most interesting and exciting times of my career so far.”
But always looking for new challenges Rachel set her sights on Channel Nine’s flagship program, A Current Affair. During her six year tenure with ACA, Rachel travelled to Kiev to investigate the legacy of Chernobyl, covered the Sydney Olympics and Commonwealth Games for the Network, reported live on two Federal Elections and interviewed a diverse range of interesting and influential people.
Rachel then became a producer on the hugely successful Celebrity Overhaul for Channel Nine. She was also the face of Smart Choice for the Australian Women’s Weekly. Rachel has recently signed with New Idea magazine to write a monthly parenting column.
Rachel is married to Australian Cricket legend, Stuart McGill. In her most important role to date, she is a busy hands-on mum to their son Alex, who is 4years old, and daughter Penny, who is one.
Rachel knows all too well the challenges faced by today’s parents and was keen to take up the role as host of the new Mums & Bubs programme to air on the Channel 7 Network.
