Where's Baby's Body?

Duration: any

Age: baby, parent

Skill for Bub: Mind Builder

summary:

Babies learn about different parts of the body with a fun version of peek-a-boo.

Before your child can even talk, she begins to develop an awareness of her body and all of those strange and squishy features. Make learning about body parts fun with a simple-to-do twist on the classic peek-a-boo game.

Using a small colourful cloth, cover your baby’s head and say, “Where’s baby’s head?” After a few seconds, lift off the cloth and say, “There it is!” Then cover your baby’s hand and say, “Where is baby’s hand”. Remove the cloth and say, “There it is!” Point to your child’s hand and say, “There’s another hand. Look! One hand, two hands!” Work your way down your child’s body, ending with the feet. Test your child by asking where a certain body part is (e.g., Where’s baby’s nose?) after you have practiced this game several times.
