Sydney taxi service with baby car seat or baby capsule Rss

Hi mums and dads,
We have a 3 year old princess, and I am also due in 2 weeks, expecting a baby boy.
I am really stressed as I don't know how to get back from the hospital after bub is born!
Our first wasn't an issue as we had my brother-in-law pick is up from the hospital (now interstate with his family).

I can call for a taxi but in the past we have had major issues when booking cabs to the airport. They either don't turn up, or when they do, they don't have a baby seat.
We almost missed our flight this one time when the cab that turned up didn't have a baby seat. The taxi company then called out a second taxi, which arrived about 30 minutes after the pre-booked time! What made that worse was that the driver didn't even know how to install the baby seat!

With our daughter now 3 years old, NSW laws allow babies older then 12 months to travel in taxis without a car seat (but not the case with private vehicles).
I guess my general rule will be to have a car seat if bub fits into it, even in they are older than 12 months!
After all... I hear that cabbies in Sydney don't have a good name when it comes to there driving skills!

My question to all mums and dads out there, does anybody know a reliable taxi service that not only will turn up with a baby car seat, but the driver also knows how to install the baby capsule for the newborn?
We are happy for our 3 year old to sit next to us in this scenario... unless there is a cabbie that has 2 baby seats!!!

I appreciate your time in reading this and look forward to your reply.

Thanks again

Thanks for the reply. We could, but unfortunetly we don't drive!
I might do some research on google. I'm pretty sure there will be a company or driver that can gaurantee a transfer!
Yes that's an excellent idea. Didn't think of that one bit. Ill make some enquiries tomorrow.
I'm still searching around for a taxi company though. That way there will be less stress rather than having to sort out a rental seat!!!

Whether you drive or not I would be buying a seat. You'll use it whether going with friends or in a taxi. If I were in your position Id feel uncomfortable asking friends or family to provide a seat. Because my mum has my kids a bit I bought her 2 car seats for each of my kids.

Try kid safe in your state, they hire out capsules up to around 6 months.

Thanks for all the replies. I appreciate your helps so much. Means a lot to me.

I did some research and found on other forums, mums talking about a taxi company called Bubs Taxi (website is www.bubstaxi.com.au).
I went the extra distant and called the company and ended up speaking with the fleet manager. He was so nice and experienced in transfers for bubs that it really boosted my confidence in not worrying about getting home from the hospital.

So basically, I will be booking through Bubs Taxi the day before I am released. What's even better is that they have 2 baby seats.... A forward facing baby seat for my infant, and a rear facing baby capsule for my newborn.
I am so happy now. This is so much stress of my shoulders.

Hi all, me again... But this time with an addition to the family. Bub had come 11 days early. We had a lovely boy.

As promised, I was going to come back with feedback for the new taxi service I had pre booked through a company called Bubs Taxi.
I made the pre booking a day before my release date and let me tell you, this was the best taxi experience I have ever had in my life!

The taxi was 15 minutes early and the baby capsule for our new born, and the baby seat for our toddler was set up and ready. Both the rear facing and forward facing baby seats where nice and secure (and very clean).
The driver had come into the hospital and helped with our bags too.
And, when he dropped us off.... He even came upstairs and helped take all our bags and flowers up to our unit.

What a great service. This is the way it should be.

The company has kept there service nice and simple, and have guaranteed everything.
What made it easier is that we had pre paid for the taxi service when pre booking, which saved us the additional headache.

Mums and dads, I highly recommend Bubs Taxi. There website is www.bubstaxi.com.au. They have everything every mum and dad is looking for when traveling with babies and toddlers.
Nice drivers, nice cars and nice baby says.... Which are installed professionally.

you can try http://www.oharemidwaytaxi.com. It is a old taxi service. It serve since 25 years and in affordable price
It can be very confusing so I thought I'd give some information about the laws for transporting children and babies safely in cars. This is taken from the NSW Road Safety website: http://roadsafety.transport.nsw.gov.au/stayingsafe/children/childcarseats/

- children up to the age of 6 months must be secured in an approved rearward facing seat.

- children above 6 months up to 4 years old must be secured in either a rear or forward facing approved child restraint with built in harness.

- children under 4 years can't travel in the front seat if the vehicle has 2 or more rows of seats

- children over 4 years but under 7 years must be secured in a forward facing approved child restraint with in built harness or approved booster seat.

There's also another taxi service that specialises in transporting children and babies. It's called Sydney Baby Taxi Service. You can find out more here: https://www.SydneyBabyTaxi.com.au

I had done a search on Google for a taxi with a baby seat in Sydney as we were travelling to Sydney with a 5 year old and a 6 month old.

Anyway, I found this post above and just wanted to say thanks to Tina for posting as we called Sydney Baby Taxi and they were just fantastic. They had car seats for all 3 kids. Plus we were able to fit all our luggage as they had a massive but very comfortable van.

They were on time, the driver was lovely and had the car seats all ready to go.

Anyway just wanted to check back to let you know how helpful this forum is. Glad I found it! smile
