Any mums out there with PCOS? Lock Rss

I just want to know if any mummies out there have PCOS? If you do....
Are you seeing a specialist for it or anything and what do you go through?

I have been told i have PCOS, but nothing is being done about it!! I am in so much pain, its crippling.... ive been to the dr before and they just go an ultrasound and leave it at that. Now im going for another one as the pain has been on and off for almost a month and im over it!!! Is there anything more that can be done?? I need help! TIA
The pain was how I found out I had PCOS, I went to the hospital for it, they admitted me and drugged me up. They we're going to do surgery for something to with it, I think it was to clean up the cysts. But I got pregnant, I must go to my dr to talk about going back on the waiting list cause I've started to get the pain again.
Go to your dr, and maybe ask bout clean up surgery?

Thanks.. what exactly is clean up surgery?, i will def speak with my dr after this next ultra sound. My last ultrasound i had i had over 20 cysts on each ovary, but because they were only tiny they didnt do anything about it. Not taking no for an answer anymore its just getting too much.
I'm not exactly sure, as I said I went for apt. about it and I was pregnant so ..yeah. But my cousin has had it for her one cyst (it was huge), and they somehow got the cyst shrunk it with drugs, then cleaned it off.
I wish I could be more help

Hi Kaza87,
I have pcos and I'm going to be a first time mum at the grand old age of 33 - in about 7 weeks smile
Have you had any blood tests to confirm the pcos diagnosis? It's just that the cysts alone are not usually sufficient for it to be confirmed, usually you need other indicators, eg, hormones out of whack based on bloods, excess hair and/or weight etc.
As to treatment, this will depend on your situation. If you are wanting to get pregnant, you should be referred to a fertility specialist after ttc for a time. If you are not wanting to get pregnant, then your gp should be investigating how to treat your symptoms, esp your pain, and they would probably refer you to a gynae for this.
Either way, it doesn't sounds like your doc is very helpful - I'd recommend getting shirty and demanding further investigations (starting with blood tests) or else just changing doctors.
Best of luck. Pcos can be really shite. But it can be managed. Just fyi I have a terrible sweet tooth so do not practice what I preach, but I would say a low GI diet is a good place to start in helping yourself. I also used acupuncture which I found really good to reduce my pain at ovulation time.
