When someone says... Rss

"I won't be long"

How long do you expect them to be?

grin
for me it depends on the context

so

if DH is going to the servo - at the end of our street - i expect that he will be home in 5-10 mins
but if DH is going to bunnings to get 'just one thing', then i will expect that he wont be home till dinner - LOL - he loves bunnings - hahaha
Half hour an hour...depends on where they have gone

Ahahha my DH ALWAYS goes to bunnings!!

The context is that he works away and he finally sent me a text at 6:15pm (he finishes at 4pm) saying he was having a beer with someone and 'he won't be long' then he will call me....

That was an hr and a half ago blink
last time dp said that he wont be long when he was out having beers with the boys he got home at 2am. he promised me he would be home for dinner, then it was at 8.30, then i wont be long.... hmmm that was a great start to mothers day.

Depends on who says it, where they are going, what they are doing and who they will be with lol

if it was DP, his wont be long is a couple of hours ,
mine wont be long is im in and out as quick as i can be not have a beer or coffee and cake to

OK - well, my DH doesnt drink, so rarely goes to the pub with the boys, but me on the other hand... well, when i say to DH that i am just stopping off for a drink, then he doesnt expect me home for about 2 hours... LOL

Well for me that used to mean see you sometime around 3 in the morning when I'm knocking on the window for you to let me in. Now he only has beers after work on a friday and I have the car on fridays so pick him up and it's I'll see you when I feel like picking you up lol

If its my mum then I know it will be at least an hr, especially if she is shopping.
With DH it depends on where and what he is doing, can be 1/2hr but if at our mates place it will be 2hrs!

When in the context as you said i would expect 2 hours with my DH. I first thought ahhh not long 30 minutes...... WRONG!!! I have now learnt boys, a few drinks and not long means expect 2 hours!
