Car Seat Rant/Query Rss

Hello! This is just a bit of a whine for help (or maybe a whinge!) about buying a car seat in Wellington, NZ. We're looking to buy an 'all in one' seat that should last from birth-booster, or at least to forward facing (not sure if this is our last baby or not!) and I'm trying to research online but I'm struggling to find decent info that's not anecdotal or opinion.

And this is all Consumer has to say: http://www.consumer.org.nz/reports/child-car-se...

I don't think you should have to pay for safety information, do you?! Is there a free Consumer like website that talks about safety, cost, features etc without being biased? And is relatively up-to-date?

Thanks!
This stuff is Australian sites, but hopefully they can help you or lead you in the right direction.

This is the site I was looking for specifically

Good luck smile Hope that helps somewhat.
The diono radian RXT does birth - big kid, a little pricey but definately ticks the box for safety and ease of use.

Unsure of any website that compares different ones tho sorry
If you can afford it and it fits in your car (is really tall so goes a long way back when rear facing) all info I found was that diono radian RXT was the best. I dont personally have one but everything I was finding it seemed to be the way to go (I only researched recently and I no longer needed rearfacing so decided against getting one for the price). It seems to be one of the tallest allowing them to be kept in a harness way longer (my kids are small and both grew out of their other carseat by about 3! And it goes down to just a base booster eventually. It has high ratings for weight so can be used as a harnessed booster right through to 36kg (my 9 year old DD is still only 20 something so would still be able to be in it) and then goes down to a base booster which can be used to 54kg (which is pretty much what I weigh!) Also rear faces to 20 odd kg which is pretty damn good too. If I were to have my time over this is what I would have gotten!
Thanks guys!
If you want a cheaper option. I purchased the Cosco one from Plunket. It does from newborn and so far my 3 year is still using it. Not sure if it will be suitable upto a booster or not, and I probably won't find out as I will need this seat for my DS who is due in December, and will get my DD one that converts to a booster.

Plunket don't really advertise it much here but they sell new Car seats and reasonable prices.
Will check it out, thanks smile We're now looking at the Infa Secure Luxi Crown - it's only $280 from Baby Factory! We have an Infa Secure booster for our 6yo and it's brilliant.

I looked at the Cosco, it seems to have virtually no padding??
I have a safe and sound compac which is good. We have the luxi in the barina, but it only just fits, being booster too its quite tall to rear face.

Thanks for that link! Aside from the height issue, how do you find the Luxi overall?
