Good morning ladies, yay I have my scan tommorrow so so exited. smile
Hope everyone is well.
Cant believe we are all nearing the half way mark. It is going so quickly for me now that I am passed 12 weeks and have stopped stressing so much.
It is so exciting that some of you are already finding out what you are having. We are undecided. I don't want to know, but don't know if I could handle not knowing and partner wants to know. I think if we find out, we will be keeping it a secret.
We are set on names now which is one less thing to think about.
Getting lots of movement which is amazing.
Breastfeeding - I didn't have much success with my daughter. My daugther was born with a tooth and I breastfeed for 2 weeks but was in constant pain. One day I expressed and my nipples were bleeding and it was getting into the milk so that was the end of it for me. I felt like the worst mum in the world and the biggest failure. But 3 years on - you would never know that she wasn't breastfed. Prior to having my daughter no-one ever mentioned to me that it was going to be difficult and when I couldn't do it I felt like I was the first person in the world who couldn't breastfeed.
So to all those first time mums out there just understand that it can be very difficult and its not the end of the world if you can't do it. Your happiness if far too important and makes for a happy baby.
Having said that I am definitely going to give it another shot this time around and hopefully I can be successful. This time I have the advantage of knowing that it is going to be hard and knowing that it takes time to get it sorted so fingers crossed I can do a little better. But if I can't I am not going to be too upset... there are so many pluses with bottle feeding.
Anyway, thats all from me.
Take care.
Hi All,

I have finally joined Face book so who ever is looking after it could you please accept me as a friend (Tina Hyland). Look forward to chatting with you on there and sharing photos!

Tina

Hi ladies,
so excited my ultrasound is today at 2.30 i can't wait to see bub.
Hope yuor ultrasound goes well Lozwatts!!

Nothing really to report here, 3 weeks until ultrasound and under 2 weeks to see the midwife again. Back pain is going to be worked on by a physio when my referral goes through hopefully in a couple of weeks time. Am sleeping like crap and ds is waking at ungodly 5am hours it's driving me nuts. It's like he knows I need the sleep or something LOL oh well.

Breastfeeding sorry can't remember who mentioned it but OMG it hurt like hell the first few weeks, by the time ds was 2 days old my right breast was so engorged he couldn't latch on and dh promptly went down to the baby store at 9am and had to buy me a pump LOL He had lots of help getting one and it is a manual hand held is fantastic I pumped before every feed at the beginning to make them not quite so hard so that ds could latch on properly. Lansinoh cream worked wonders on the cracks and I'm lucky I didn't bleed it got really bad there. But it takes about 6 weeks after birth for the new hormones to settle that produce the milk and then your breasts become a more reasonable size and everything works better. I nearly gave up breastfeeding because of the pain in those first 3 weeks but dh kept supporting me, and it really helps having someone tell you how good you are doing and getting hot flannels etc. smile

Better go ds is being a ratbag of course! Can't believe we are getting half way there!

Hi just thought i would join the group - im 17 weeks today due 18th Feb 2010 with our 1st - had morning sickness every day since week 5 and am still getting it! Am starting to pop out now which is very exciting and cant wait till my 20 week scan!
Hi everyone

bubsee 1980- congradualtions on your pregnancy! my first due i had was 18 feb, but now im due 15 feb. the 18 is my brothers bday so he is hoping for that day lol, but i think im having a s-section now so will be much earlier than that. I hope your sickness eases. Im also 17 weeks and 3 days lol.

Hope everyone is well.
Ive been busy studying and trying to completed a assignment at the moment. yay cant wait for the holidays 2 and half weeks to go. 13 days till my 19 week scan yay , and i see the midwife a week form today so am looking forward to that.

I also got in the mail an appointment to see Helen Crampton the obstrition regarding my c-section and to talk about it furthur. If eel she will try talk me out of it or blantly say no i cant have one. there is no way im having anatural birth if my infection can or culd get passes on to my baby for the rest of its life. thats torture to me!!! i feel really stronly about this and i know when i go in there she will tell me no so im gna have to have a second a opinion with the doctor i wanteed Owen Jennings, ive dealt with him before and he is lovely so i guess time will tell and i will let you know how i get along with her.

Im getting way bigger now, totally opped out each week its like im getting bigger and bigger and more noticible.

Im having baby boy dreams atm. I had one where i had twins and they were both boys then all of a sudden they were gone and ended up being kittens. very crazy and out of it dream!!!

My cravings havent really changed. im loving strawberry milk insted of normal milk lol. my liquorice and golden syurip crumpets yummm!!!

Hi All

so wish my scan was sooner lol, 2 and a half weeks! I cant wait.

So tired today baby must be having a growth spurt lol because I was fine yesterday. My allergies are driving me a little insane at the moment too which isnt helping.

Finally popping out more and more and tummy is starting to be noticable to outsiders finally!

We just booked a weekend away in October which I'm looking forward to, just need to find some swimmers now that will fit me! My BBs are still growing out of control I can't keep up with them.

Jenna I have had baby boy dreams also, as well as the crazy kind which make no sense. The group on facebook is called Huggies Due FEB 2010. Just do a search for it and I cant add you I think you have to request to join it when you find it.

Loz I hope your scan is good today smile

Clare

Hi All,

I was just being a little nosy and figured some of you guys might end up birthing in January, so I thought I'd have a quick squiz at your forum.

Congrats to you all. Isn't it great being able to share this experience with bunch of women that are at the same stage as you?!

I hadn't planned on posting on here, but I have a question that I haven't been able to figure out the answer to. It's in regards to bottle-feeding.

But if I can't I am not going to be too upset... there are so many pluses with bottle feeding.

What are the advantages???
I've tried REALLY hard to be un-biased about this as I have breastfed both my children and the LAST thing I want to do is upset any-one, but I honestly could only think of 2 things.

1) The Baby feeds for a shorter amount of time when on the bottle compared to breastfeeding (regardless of whether it is Formula or Expressed Breast Milk). Not taking into account prepartaion time tho.

2) Any-one can feed the baby. Although this is true of expressed breast milk and I personally don't see this as an advantage. I like the fact that I am the only one that can feed my baby.

This question was purely out of curiosity as I have witnessed friends bottle feeding and it doesn't seem easy at all.

If you have formula fed, maybe you can answer my question. Maybe I'm missing something.

I'll come back on and check out the answer. Sorry for the intrusion and as I said before this wasn't meant to upset any-one. : )

I know you didn't want to upset anyone but I have taken great offence to your comments.
There are pluses and minuses to everything and it depends on your individual and personal situation.
In my situation the pluses with bottle feeding far out weighed the minuses.
I was able to feed without being in tears everytime. I was able to feed without resenting my daughter because it hurt so much. I was able to feed on demand without putting it off because it hurt so much. I was able to go back to work without too much drama, too much disruption to my daughter. The bond between my daugther and I, while it was always there, was so much stronger once I started bottle feeding because I wasn't constantly upset because I couldn't do it. Yes someone else can feed your baby, but having said that up until I went back to work I was the only one that fed her. My partner may have fed her once or twice but I believed it was the mothers job and part of our bonding experience.
You can feed in public without causing offence to some people and also without embarrasment etc. Not saying that I was ever embarrased about doing it in public nor do i get offended at people breast feeding in public, but some people are quite shy about it.
There is no real such thing as comfort sucking. Once the milk is gone that is it. Which makes for easier weaning etc.
The preparation time is next too nothing. It takes time to sterilise, but that is something you can do and walk away. If you are organised, like I was, I had the days bottles done at night time and they were all ready for the entire next day.

I WOULD JUST LIKE TO MAKE IT PERFECTLY CLEAR TO ALL MOTHERS THAT CAN'T OR WON'T BREASTFEED THAT THE CHOICE IS YOURS AND DO NOT LET ANYONE AND I MEAN ANYONE MAKE YOU FEEL BAD BECAUSE YOU CHOSE NOT TO OR CAN'T. BREASFEEDING IS JUST NOT FOR SOME PEOPLE. AS WITH CHILDBIRTH - NATURAL IS JUST NOT FOR SOME PEOPLE AND THAT IS THEIR CHOICE AND ONLY THEIR CHOICE. YOU JUST HAVE TO BE THE BEST MOTHER YOU CAN BE AND MAKE THE CHOICES THAT BEST SUIT YOURSELF BASED ON YOUR OWN CIRCUMSTANCES. MOTHERS WHO JUDGE OTHER MOTHERS ARE THE WORST PEOPLE IN MY EYES. EVERY MOTHER SHOULD KNOW THAT EVERY OTHER MOTHER CAN ONLY DO WHAT THEY CAN. ITS TRIAL AND ERROR AND WILL BE THAT FOR THE REST OF THE MOTHERS LIFE - HOW CAN ANYONE JUDGE SOMEONE WHEN THEY ARE PLAYING THE SAME GAME OF TRIAL AND ERROR BUT WITH DIFFERENT CIRCUMSTANCES??
Hi smile

Well I am about to head off to work, so just a quick one.

I hope your scan goes well Loz! So exciting!! I cant wait til mine, still got two weeks to go.

Breastfeeding? I am going to give it my best shot. I hope to be able to. I never thought that it would be painful, until my sister and friends were doing it and told me all about it. Dont like the idea of sore cracked nipples!

Cant remember anything else! And better go get ready for work anyhow.

Take care, Jayne

Hi,

Sorry to bother you all but I am due in Nov/Dec and I thought I would just give my 2 cents worth with breastfeeding. (Wasn't stalking just like to keep up to date with Jayne, hi Jayne) but if you can breastfeed and you WANT to do it. If you can't or don't want to DON't. Don't let anyone force there thoughts on to you. Have a great day

Jane
