Dreamfeeds Rss

I need help, can someone please explain how to give dream feeds with a bottle? DD2 is not putting on enough weight so I have been told to give her a dream feed but I have no idea how. I have tried on the breast but she wouldn't attach so I am curious about how to give a dream feed with a bottle without waking her up. She sleeps 12 hours a night and i'd rather not ruin her routine unless I absolutely have to. Thanks in advance.
i didnt really have a special technique but i would just get ds or dd up at 10.30, bottle already warmed, and put the bottle in their mouth and they would just start drinking.

there were times when they were so dead to the world that they wouldnt easily take the bottle (or breast) so i would change their nappy which would wake them up a bit.

once they had finished feeding i would burp them and put them straight back down.

good luck.

eta that i would brush the teat over the mouth (mostly on the corners) and that would make them open their mouth.
is there anyway that you could give her an extra feed during the day.it would be a shame to interrupt her if she is such a good sleeper during the night.

Hi,

I did the dreamfeed with my ds from about 10wks. All i did initially was at around 10.30pm picked him up out of his cot and gave him his bottle, i never had any issue with resettling him as he never really woke up.

Goodluck
I did the dreamfeed from about 8 weeks with DD2 (bottles), just got her up at 10pm (all lights out, no noise or talking) had the bottle ready to go so popped it in her mouth, she drank it, burped her and put her back in bed - she was out to it and never woke up. As she got older we moved the time to 10.30pm but she continued to just take the bottle and go right back to bed.

Give it a go and see how she goes.
Thanks girls, I am planning on giving it a go in an hour as she definitely needs it tonight. I got home from uni and she was already asleep, her last bottle of EBM being at 5pm sad The little princess is just so content and happy she's not overly concerned about food. I will try to add an extra feed in during the day tomorrow but i'm not sure how she'll go with it.
How old is she? If she's not putting on weight it might be she sleeps so much as she's not getting enough to eat, that's what Dr's told me with DD2 in the early weeks but we soon rectified the problem with feeding her 3 hourly during the day. It only took a matter of a week or two for her to come good (from newborn).

She is 3 1/2 months and feeds 3 hourly during the day.
Hopefully the dreamfeed works and she starts porking up smile

Thanks, i'm hoping so too.
I've given Tate the dreamfeed from about 3 weeks. I do it at 10.30pm.
I always use a bottle of EBM because he's always too asleep to drink enough from the boob!

Same as above, I just bascially stick the bottle in his mouth and he sucks away while he's soundly sleeping smile

I find that he is so relaxed he doesn't gulp any air so doesn't need burping.

Good luck.

hey chick I dream feed Drew at about 11ish each night, he is also breastfed but I had trouble getting him to attach as I did not want to wake him up completely (no no no lol) so I was giving him a bottle of ebm (not that I wanted to do that either)now what I do is I express a couple of drops onto his lips a couple of times and see if he would take the breast, if he does not latch on I give him about 20ml in a bottle as it is easier for him to get the milk with out the attachment (enough for him to get the taste of it and when this happens he will look for more and be willing to attach) this way I am not using up additional ebm that could be better used when I am not around

I hope this makes some form of sense lol
