**October 2009 Babies** Rss

Hi Girls

Finally got 5 mins to jump on and say Hi! Can't believe Emmy is now 1.5wks old, the days go so quick. Well I am finding Emmy's unsettled period seems to be from about 7pm to 11pm where she just wants my boob and won't take the dummy. I tried about 3 different dummies and she doesn't like any. It's hard when the older 2 kids need dinner, bath & bed done. I'm lucky my hubby is fantastic and has been cooking dinner and organising the older kids. Glad to hear everyone else seems to be going along good.

Quick question to the BF mums have you boobs settled down or are they still huge & hard lol Mine have settled down, still leak now & then but they aren't that extra huge anymore.

Lol! Mine have settled down, they're still almost 2 cup sizes bigger (or size WOWSERS as hubby calls them, lol) but they aren't hard and heavy anymore, unless bub goes too long between feeds...like this morning he slept from 8:30pm til 6:30am and I tell you my boobs were killing me, as soon as i heard him stir I had a boob out ready for a feed!lol ...sooo much relief!

My boobs have also settled down, I do leak a lot though. I too have gone up 2 cup sizes, gotta love that smile

I got my first smile today!!! Oh so beautiful and nothing can describe how it makes you feel smile

Just curious and it may be a bit TMI but I am still bleeding (not much just enough to HAVE to wear a pad, is this normal?? Sorry bit gross :S

Hope everyone is doing well xx

my brother was born crossed eyed and had to have surgery on them and still has one turned eye.can't wait for the early childhood nurse comes out to see me so i can ask about it.

Hi ladies.

My Milk settled within a few days, although today DD has been demanding abit more milk from em so they have been filling up quicker. smile Other then that my nipples are holding uop really well with DS they cracked within a few days! Thank god thats not happening with this one. My bleeding has settle a little bit, im just using normal pads now! Which is great.

Im feeling pretty good. My first day on saturday being alone with baby and toddler for the afternoon as DP has a work thing on and celebrating birth of his daughter. smile So ill keep you posted on how that goes!!

Im glad everyone seems to be doing really well and the babies are growing and putting on lots of weight.

Kez- With you DS having a lazy eye? My DP has bad eyes so when my son was 6mth we got him checked with a specialists and he recommened he get glasses, we got a second oppionion and they said his eye would get dtronger and they did and he doesn't need them but we still will get him checked every year. We will do the same with DS when she is around 6mths too. But the MAch nurser are jsut as good as picking things up too. smile Good luck.

Well im off to feed miss and get her settle and then im closing my eyes for afew hours myself. smile

we had a really good night last night. fed the boys at 9 and 9.30, put them to bed and they didnt wake til 2.30 and 3 then they were back in bed half an hour later and woke again at 7. yah!! lol plus DD stayed in her own bed as well - since the boys were born she has been waking up when they do and jumping in our bed

DD is staying at my parents this weekend and my in laws have offered to have the boys for a couple of hours during the day so that me and DP can have some time alone - will definately take them up on that lol

hope everyone has a good weekend smile
My boobs are back to normal - all my milk is gone - thank goodness it was so painful there for a while cause I could not drain anything out.

Glad to hear most are doing well with breastfeeding - my little one is really suffering on formula - she is having a lot of trouble passing poo - has lots of fluffy wind but just can't seem to get a stool out - I feel so bad for her and am feeling a little guilty as I know if I could b/feed all would probably be well.

We have a doctors appointment today for her 10 day check up so hopefully she can recommend something for us - under advice from our visiting midwife we have been adding some brown sugar to a few feeds - She passed a stool on Wednesday night a few hours after a brown sugar feed but there has been nothing since then. I also think we may need to try another formula and see if that makes any difference - I do so hope we can get it sorted soon as the poor darling seems to be in a bit of discomfort.

Marni- in MY opinion adding brown sugar to bottles is a really, really bad idea. It can create baby's to have a sweet "tooth" and only want to drink sweetened drinks, can also cause tooth decay when their teeth come through, just like what happens if you give baby's dummies with honey to get them to suck... (We all do what works and all have different opinions as parents and feel free to ignore my advice)...but I would be changing to another formula asap, some formulas are known to cause constipation and every baby reacts differently to each one. Another option would be to try a small bottle of cooled boiled water between formula feeds. Don't feel guilty about not being able to breastfeed, you tried and it doesn't always work out...been there!!

I've used a few different formulas and have MY personal opinions about which ones I like and what I do when bubs are having trouble with constipation, feel free to PM me any questions, good luck with the doctors today! smile

Hey all, hope everyone is recovering well and enjoying there new bubs smile Shayla Kim Boler was born 28/10/09 at 11.49pm weighing 8lb 5oz HC of 36cm and length 51cm after a very long tiring labour 3 hours of pushing and i had to get a Episiotomy and a ventouse delivery, stil very tender and sore, shaylas feeding well milk is coming in so she is having a little trouble latching onto hard boobs and my nipples are already very sore and crackd, any who she sleeps well through the day but at night she crys from 1 - 4am if not longer, anyways shes sleeping now so im going to go try get some sleep in before i take her home from the hospital

Oh what a night! The worst night since Bubs come home with us. Havens above she toke about 3 hours to settle in. Then DS woke up and couldn't get back to sleep so this morning i woke up to a snoring partner and two children fast asleep in his arms!! Very cute.

Today is the first day home alone with the babies. It's so fair going ok i have Bubs on the boob and DS watching dinosurs its a little hot for him to be running around outside. My DP is out with work mates as his boss is leaving and also celebrating his daughter's birth any excuse to ahve time out and a few drinks he never drinks so im ok wit it.

Iv had more cravings breastfeeding then i did when i was pregnant.

Take care everyone. xxx

Me too!! And a lot of it is unhealthy lol. And Sarah your kiddies are gorgeous!!

had another really good night with Logan, he slept for 6hrs straight but the night before that he just wouldn't settle and i was up until 2am. Hopefully he'll have another good nigth again. And why is it that when one child sleeps in the other wakes up early???

Finally Matt got home from Melb at 4 in the morning and he brought home a speeding fine grrrr.

Anyways might go and mow the front lawn already done the the back this morning.
