Should I be waking him to start his day at the same time everyday?

Hi Maree, i have watch the DVD and use your settling techniques which i find work for me. However, with my 8 week old every evening between the house of 6pm-9pm (approx) he is completely unsettled. We place him bed after having a bath and a feed and follow your settling techniques but he just will not go to sleep - even after 1 hour of trying to settle.

I am wondering if this could be because he does not start his day at the exact same time every day. For example, he may wake at 7am, 8am or 9am (just depending on how long he has slept for at night)

Should i be waking him to start his day at the same time every day or could this just be an unsettled period that we need to get use to?

During the evening i usually have to feed him once or twice, but after being fed he does go straight back to sleep. During the day he usually settles within the 1st 15 minutes, sometimes he needs a cuddle for 1 minute, then he will settle within 5 minutes.

Thanks in advance
Regards,
Andrea

Answer: Hi Andrea, This is often a trying time of night. I would suggest you follow a feed/play/sleep routine so you can catch tired signs rather than continuing to feed when unsettled. A routine is always great but every day won`t be the same so try to act on tired signs and he`s not doing too bad at present, things should fall into place eventually, it seems you understand all the basic rules. Cheers, Maree
